Important Update Regarding Consolidation with Bellwood Water System Inc.

Hagewood Water System, Inc. August 24, 2025
Dear Hagewood Water System Customers:
This is an important update regarding the consolidation of our water system with the Bellwood Water
System. Please keep the letter that you should have received or will receive shortly for future reference. Our consolidation with Bellwood Water System is complete, and we are now part of their water system. We will continue to use water from our well, with Sabine as a backup source, until the water lines are finished connecting the Bellwood lines to ours. This should be completed within a year.
What this consolidation means for Hagewood Customers:
• You will receive a September bill from Hagewood Water, and from that point on, your water bills will be marked Bellwood Water System.
• You will notice new water rates reflected on your Bellwood bills. Attached with the mailout is Bellwood's water rate schedule, rules and regulations, and payment deadlines. Please ensure you remit payment to them at the address shown on their bill and adhere to their bill payment dates.
• Payment options: 1) You can still pay your water bill through Paystar. When you click on
HagewoodWater.com, you will be redirected to the Bellwood Water System website. 2) You can mail your payment to Bellwood Water System at the address on your new bill. 3) You can drop your payment off at the One-Stop Store in Hagewood. 4) You can take your payment to the Bellwood Water System Office and pay by cash, check, or money order. 5) You can leave your bank draft on file with us, and your bill will continue to be drafted-unless you call the Bellwood Water System office and stop the draft. It has been a challenging year of changes and adjustments for all of us. Your board members have worked hard as volunteers to keep the system moving forward and make the best choices for our future. We have kept the water rates as low as possible for as long as possible, but that is no longer a sustainable option. The rising cost of running a small water system has exceeded our affordability, along with the fact that we could not afford an office or to hire staff to operate the system. This was not an easy decision, but we are confident it is the best choice for all of us. We are very grateful to the Bellwood Board and staff for their hard work and generosity in making this consolidation happen.
Thank you for your continued patience and support during this transition as new members of the
Bellwood Water System. A letter from Bellwood, with their contact information and mailing address, was included in the mailout from us.
Sincerely,
Hagewood Water System Board Members:
John Bynog, Scotti Rodgers, Erika Ayatey, Curtis LaCour
